Zine making workshop with Rae Parnell as part of Nos tei

  • OBA oosterdok Oosterdokskade Amsterdam, NH, 1011 Netherlands (map)

During this workshop, zinester Rae Parnell (aka Raezor Beam) sets out to create a safe space for people from LGBTQAI+ and POC communities, centring LGBTQAI+ people of color.

During this intimate workshop attendees will get the tools to create their own 6-page mini-zine out of (reproduced) printed materials from the collections of the Black Queer Archives and IHLIA LGBT Heritage.

The aim of this workshop is to facilitate conversations around self-expression, representation and activism. Zines, through their DIY roots, have long been – and continue to be – an important medium for marginalized communities to express themselves, communicate with one another, and share community based knowledge.

This workshop is free and open for all, but capacity is limited. To attend please send an email to

Rae Parnell

Rae Parnell (aka RaeZor Beam) is a researcher, writer, and artist based in the Hague, NL. They do healing work and community building through workshop facilitation and use the process of zine-making to archive queer and trans communities of color. Although they are currently exploring movement based work, Rae often returns to zine making as a way to archive their experiences, and the wisdom of the community around them.

Nos tei

This workshop is organized by IHLIA LGBT Heritage in proud collaboration with Black Queer Archives and presented within the framework of Nos tei, an exhibition curated by Julian Isenia and Naomie Pieter. Nos tei is an incitement to a more inclusive description of LGBT history.
